Softwood Plywood

• 1^st letter indicates grade of face
• 2^nd letter indicates grade of back
• 3^rd letter, generally X, denotes exterior glue

A  (Best)
B
C
D  (Worst)

• AC, AB, CDX are most readily available grades
• Pine plywood is cheapest but fir plywood is stronger and more stable

Hardwood Plywood

• Letter indicates grade of face
• Number indicates grade of back
